Well I heard from Ben @ KYP on saturday who let me know that my halfcut would be ready for inspection today! I went to check it out this morning and I was happy to see that it is exactly what I was after:
1995 Nissan Skyline R33 (series 1 body, series 2 motor)
RB25DET
5 speed manual
83,000km's
Non-ABS
Stock standard
Compression: 165 across all 6
We started the engine up whilst I was there and it was fine. It sounded so tough as it was with no exhaust etc so it put a nice big smile on my face.
I will be picking it up tomorrow and transporting it to the workshop where if all goes to plan it will be removed from the half cut that night so that we can throw the shell away (very limited space currently). Il post pics of this once done as well.
Anyway, here are some pics of the engine as it is now:

Removing Sound Deadening
In preparation for the cars upcoming paint job I started removing the factory sound deadening from my floor pan this weekend. I really underestimated just how much work it was to do this as it taken about 6 (slack) hours so far and i still have to clean up all the left over bits on the floor (power tools are involved with this part though!).
For anyone else that is planning to do this job I can highly suggest you purchase a bag of dry ice as it makes the job much easier. You just leave the bag on a spot that you want to remove and it freezes it and makes it brittle so you just hit it and it all cracks off in one peice. Another thing that comes in handy for the gluey parts on the transmission tunnel is a heat gun as this will melt the glue so that you can simply scrape the deadening off.
In other news I have placed a deposit down on an R33 halfcut that I should have early next month :D. Anyway heres pics of this weeks progress:

Interior Detailing...
Had a fun day yesterday pulling the cars interior out in preperation for painting. I got all of the trim and carpet out but I still need to chip off the sound deadening and mask up the parts that I dont want sprayed. The engine bay is also looking a bit emptier now as I removed all the random ancilleries from it like clutch/brake master and also the entire HICAS system (as i have a non hicas subframe to go in).
I also received a response from DPI this week regarding the conversion. Their letter basically says it is ok to modify the vehicle this way but I will need an engineer to sign off all of the work which is what I was expecting anyway :D. They had a sad about the rims I chose (17x8 F, 17x9 R) and said I couldnt run them but I have seen people roll over the pits before with rims like this so I will worry about it when the time comes.
Anyways, pics of the cars current state:
