Introduction

I will be using this blog to document the process of converting my 1990 Nissan 180sx from a CA18DET (4 Cyl 1.8L turbo) to a Nissan RB25DET (Inline 6, 2.5L turbo). I purchased the car in late 2005 and have done quite a bit to it since then. Using the CA18DET engine I managed to pull 218rwhp @ 1bar but this was approaching the limits of the turbo it has and any more boost would mean I *should* install a new (heavy duty) head gasket. It was at this point I decided a better option for more power would be to swap the CA18DET with an RB25DET from a Nissan Skyline R33. Having previously owned an R33 skyline, I do enjoy the extra torque these engines deliver and they can handle alot more power than the old CA18DET. My main focus at the moment is to get the engine in the car and to *hopefully* get the car legally registered with the new engine. I have submitted a "Light Vehicle Modification" application to the DPI and I am currently awaiting a response that will tell me what parts need to have approved by a qualified engineer and any other things that will be necessary for registration. So thats where I am at the moment, now here is some pics of the car as it as at the moment:
